Tips For a Safe and Productive Leafleting Campaign

Direct Leafleting (person to person)

 

1. 1) Order a quantity of leaflets through the Patriots’ Notebook website. We are able to provide you with a high quality reproduction leaflet at a very reasonable price.

 

1. 2) Bring along a sympathetic friend to assist you in your leafleting campaign. There is strength in numbers and courage can be contagious.

1. 3) Create a positive image by dressing conservatively and maintaining a neat, clean appearance.  Be courteous and respectful. Pay particular attention to your hands, removing any dirt from underneath your fingernails.
3. 4) Don’t smoke, drink or use profanity when distributing Patriots’ Notebook leaflets. Remember that you are a direct ambassador for Our Cause.

2. 5)  Respect the wishes of private property owners at all times.

 

1. 6) Keep your leafleting activities legal at all times.

1. 7) Keep the bulk of your printed materials in the trunk of a vehicle that is parked close to your designated leafleting spot.
3. 8) Make sure your vehicle is parked legally and that it has current plates, registration and insurance.
5. 9) If stopped and questioned by police be polite and co-operative. Even though you are exercising your First Amendment rights by distributing Patriots’ Notebook leaflets you may be stopped and asked to present your I.D.  Present your I.D. and do not argue with law enforcement. Your leafleting material may be seized, but you must not make a fuss. Politely ask for the name of the officer seizing the leaflets, but do not resist this unlawful act. You must always remember that your freedom is more important than that of the general population and you can always purchase or print more leaflets.

2. 10) If you are on foot there should be no need to advise the police of the location of your vehicle. You can always tell them that you were dropped off by a friend.

 

 

Indirect Leafleting (no personal contact)

1. 6) If leafleting a neighborhood, place a small rock on top of your properly protected leaflet, insuring that the wind won’t blow away your leaflet. You should note that several police agencies have resorted to charging patriots with littering charges over leafleting campaigns.

2. 7) Never place a leaflet inside of a U.S. mailbox. If you wish to do a mass mailing make sure you pay for postage and drop your leaflets off at a U.S.P.S. office.
